Popular jobs in Bangladesh attract large numbers of applicants, many through job portals. A clear, two-page CV in English that matches the job and shows what you achieved helps you stand out.
The Bangladeshi CV at a glance
- Call it a CV, written in English for most private employers.
- Freshers: one page. With experience: up to two.
- Start with a brief career summary tailored to the role.
- Internships and jobs listed newest first.
- Education with your degree, institution, year and CGPA. Freshers often add SSC and HSC results (or O and A levels).
- Include your name, phone, email and city, plus LinkedIn if you use it.
What to leave out
Traditional Bangladeshi CVs include a long personal details section. Many employers, especially multinationals and NGOs, don’t need it. Leave these off unless the advert asks:
- Your NID number.
- Father’s and mother’s names, religion, marital status and date of birth.
- A photo. Some local employers ask for one; add a professional photo only when they do.
- Your permanent and present addresses in full. Your city is enough.
Government jobs
Government and some public institutions use their own online application forms and exams, which ask for the details above. Complete those exactly as required, separately from your CV.
Tailor it to each job
- Search bdjobs.com and LinkedIn; bdjobs also has its own CV format, so keep it consistent with your CV.
- Read the circular closely and match its requirements in your wording.
- For NGO roles, show impact with numbers: people reached, programmes run.
- Start each section with what this employer cares about most.
Cover letter
Most private employers and NGOs ask for a short cover letter addressed to the person or department named in the circular. Keep it to one page.
Common mistakes
- Personal details filling the first page.
- Generic career objectives.
- A bdjobs profile that contradicts your CV.
- English spelling and grammar errors.
